Room Information
ZUIUN

The traditional Japanese ink paintings of Nara’s Yamatojihiko are boldly displayed in the Tokonoma (Japanese alcove) and elsewhere in the room. The structure itself was made by the shrine carpenters of Kasuga Taisha, and at a glance gives the illusion of being at the imperial court. Mostly used to accommodate distinguished guests, we also offer it for the traditional exchange of engagement gifts, the first meeting between the families of the betrothed, and Buddhist memorial services.
